Text Box: This module presents the fundamentals of centrifugal pumping action, such as net suction head pressure and other relationships between system restriction and pressure/temperature conditions, pump inlet boiling and cavitation, flow rates vs. system resistance, flow velocity/pressure considerations, etc. It presents information on face seals typically used in automotive pumps. The increasing use of electric pumps to augment total flow rates under certain specific conditions and possibly to replace the engine driven mechanical pump when 42 volt systems are available is discussed.
